Munroe K, the leading Leeds-based property investment and development company, has been confirmed as a key sponsor of the FinTech North conference, which takes place on 26th April as part of Leeds Digital Festival.
Founded in 1995 by David Aspin, Munroe K will use the FinTech North conference as a platform upon which to raise awareness for ‘Y Leeds’, a FinTech laboratory, the anchor property in the new ‘ICON Digital City’ (International Centre Of New Technologies).
Y Leeds is a new carbon positive office building which includes Finexus who will run a new Fintech laboratory that will enable industry, academia and entrepreneurs to solve financial industry problems and develop new FinTech startups.
ICON is a transformational project that will see the existing White Rose Office Park in Leeds expand over the coming years increasing from 27 to 72 acres of land. It will be boosted by the creation of a new rail station on the Trans Pennine line.
David Aspin, founder and owner of Munroe K, says:
“I’m delighted to be supporting the FinTech North conference, which I feel is a significant event for driving awareness and collaboration in the Leeds City Region. I believe our plans for ICON will have a transformational effect on the area to the south of the city centre and will create a new space where digital innovation and change can prosper. It is hugely significant that the new rail station will be on the line between Leeds and Manchester.”
Chris Sier, Director of FiNexus and FinTech Envoy for the North of England, adds:
“The new Y Leeds building at ICON will be a hotbed of FinTech activity for entrepreneurs, academics and corporates who are deeply involved in developments such as blockchain, Artificial Intelligence, virtual reality, and the Internet of Things.”
Current tenants at the White Rose Office Park include Capita, HSBC , WSP, Gather and Gather, HMRC and the newly created Elliott Hudson school. The school is for 16 to 19 year olds and is part of the policy of bringing education and the work place closer together, to create new collar workers to support re-industrialisation within the Northern Powerhouse.
FinTech North 2017 is organised by Leeds-based Whitecap Consulting and White Label Crowdfunding. Other organisations to have pledged their support to the FinTech North conference include aql, Computershare,BJSS, FiNexus, Leeds City Region Enterprise Partnership, West Yorkshire Combined Authority, and Nostrum Group.
